// ABOUT //
SGT. SCAG (aka Sgt. Scagnetti) has been a fixture on the Northeast ska/punk scene since the late 1990’s. Migrating from a ska-pop outfit into a harder, more frantic sound, the band’s live shows are unpredictable and fun. They might arm the audience with 100’s of plastic toy swords, split them in half and have the crowd reenact a scene from Braveheart. Really. The Hartford Courant called them a “surefire crowd slayer.” Brooklyn Vegan said their “fast, fiery approach rips”
In our history we have opened for Reel Big Fish, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Fishbone, Soul Coughing, Cherry Poppin Daddies, Notorious BIG (for real!), Cypress Hill, Goldfinger and tons of others. More recently Sgt. Scag played the Radicsfest NYC at Gramercy Theater (with Pilfers, Mephiskapheles, Spring Heeled Jack, etc.). We also played the SuperNova International Ska Festival (Northern Virginia) Memorial Day weekend in 2018 including the Pietasters, Suicide Machines and dozens of other Nationally touring bands. We took part in the digital version of SuperNova 2020 in June as well. Most recently we were voted #1 ska band in New England in a Pocket Entertainment poll. Exciting stuff.
Songs about dysfunctional parenting, revenge fantasies and drug abuse developed into teen center anthems. Bearded Gentleman Music said “the ska punk community is better with them, than without.” Not a reunion show, but actively writing and recording new material about the drug of nostalgia, illegal firework salesmen and how they anticipate navigating the end times. They will play the old stuff too. Don’t worry.
